In 1953, the Museum was first established as a Memorial Museum of Marshal Tito and it worked under the auspices of Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb. Today's ethno-village Kumrovec is the biggest museum on open ground in Croatia that provides visitors an authentic experience of Zagorje village from the early 20th century. Over forty restored buildings of traditional architecture demonstrate how people in the area used to live. Museum exhibitions show us customs and daily life of farmers and their families on one hand, and on the other the various traditional crafts that the residents of the villages from Zagorje region once performed in order to secure existence for their families. Restored house of president of former Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito is at the center of today's Museum "Old Village".
Opening hours:
From April 1. to September 30:
every day from 9am to 7pm.
From November 1 to the end of February:
every day from 9am to 4pm.
March and October:
Monday - Friday from 9am to 4pm;
weekends (Saturday and Sunday) - from 9am to 6pm.
The revival of the contents of Museum began by organizing schools and courses of traditional crafts. “Centre for traditional crafts and skills”, equipped with databases and know-how for conservation of traditional, knowledge, skills, customs and folklore was a result of these activities.
