KRAVARIČ’S HOMESTEAD, KUNŠPERK
Location: Kunšperk
Category: Architectural and ethnological heritage
In the central part of Kunšperk lies Kravarič's homestead, a former humble dwelling of a small farmer. It consists of three buildings: the residential house, the pigpen and the outbuilding with a cellar and a granary. The single-storey residential house is from the mid- 19th century.
It is made from wood with the walls plastered and painted. The roof is covered with straw. The interior of the house is divided into four rooms with a traditional layout: upon entering there is a vestibule followed by a black kitchen, on the left are the living quarters and on the right a room used as a bedroom.
At the end of the 19th century a pigpen was added to the house. Its design is similar to most such buildings in the Posotelje area. A set of buildings of the former Kravarič’s homestead is completed by the outbuilding. The building is somewhat leaning on the bank; its upper part is wooden and the bottom, farmyard part, is made of stone. The building has a straw-roof. In the extension there is a wooden space for the traditional press, covered by brick.
