THE PRIMARY SCHOOL BISTRICA OB SOTLI

After the earthquake in 1974, which damaged the old school, the building of the new school started. The official opening of the new school, which was named by Marija Broz, was on 28th April 1979. On 10th of May, the school was visited by Josip Broz - Tito when he officially visited Slovenia for the last time.
The new, modern school offered more opportunities for the teachers and pupils to have quality classes. After 1996, the school officially kept the name of the Primary school Bistrica ob Sotli and left out Marija Broz’s name.
The school is a part of the Schools for Health Network and other educational projects. Both, the new and the old school were renovated and connected with the underground hall. During the years 2007 and 2010, it also won the price of the most beautiful school among the old schools, while being a part of the project called Moja dežela, lepa in gostoljubna.
