LOWER PRIMARY SCHOOL IN KUMROVEC

In 1891.by the support of the Provincial Government, the Provincial Foundation of National classrooms and work and dedication of peasants a new school building was completed. At the beginning of first school year, the school was attended by 135 students from Kumrovec and the surrounding villages. In the first grade of elementary school in the school year 1900 / 1901, Josip Broz Tito was enrolled. George Markovic was the first teacher of Josip Broz Tito. About that time, Josip Broz Tito said: "It was difficult to study. You were workforce. You never had time to study. Guarding the cattle and digging at the field is your job, and you didn't really have any childhood." Lower primary school building was renovated and restored in 1981 when it received a new museum exhibition. On the celebration of 120 years of education in Kumrovec on October 3, 2011 it was officially opened with the new museum exhibition "Old School".
