GABRON’S WELL
Location: Bistrica ob Sotli
Category: Wells and fountains
In Bistrica ob Sotli within Gabron’s homestead stand another well. It was built in 1880 alongside with livestock facilities by Rajmond Gabron, the owner of the property at the time. In 2010 it was renovated with the help of Helios’ fund for restoring village-wells.
Its central location used to draw in the pilgrims and traders. Also, the livestock could be watered by the basin next to the well. Then, it was built from rock in the shape of a circle, measuring 1,3 metres in diameter with a depth of around 15 metres.
After World War II., the well was cleaned and restored and a wooden roof covered with pine has been added to the square-shaped concrete construction. Ever since it purchased the Gabron’s property, the Bistrica ob Sotli municipality takes care of the well.
