THE PUBLIC WELL / »PLEČNIK’S WELL« Location: Bistrica ob Sotli Category: Wells and fountains

The well has elements of Plečnik's craft (Plečnik is a architect famous for his planning of Ljubljana and Prague), but there is no consistent data whether this is his work. The municipality has built it with the support of bank management in 1940 by the market area in the centre of Bistrica. It was intended for numerous tourists and pilgrims.

After the war, it was fitted with a panel with an inscription revealing all past names of this place, its altitude and the altitude of the peak of Orlica. When the road was widened, the well had been mutilated and is not preserved in its original image.
