OSOJNIK’S CROSS, ZAGAJ
Location: Bistrica ob Sotli
Category: Skulptures, monuments and memorials
The stone pillar-shaped memorial stands by the forest path from the Holy Mountains towards Vrhunce. On the checked capital is an inscription: N. D. H. C. T. VITRIRI. G. CEMELIC GVLISHNEK R. DG. B. P. 1612. Above it is a chapel, in which there were once images of St. Andrew and the Mother of God. On top is a stone pyramid- shaped roof with a stone cross with the name MARIA and INRI inscribed.
According to tradition, it was a monument erected in memory of a visit of the bishop of Ljubljana, Tomaž Hren, to the Holy Mountains, where he blessed the church in 1611. The people of Bizeljsko therefore often call it Hren's cross.
