THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS, ZAGAJ Location: Bistrica ob Sotli Category: Sacral objects

The chapel stands in front of the vicarage on the Holy Mountains. The interior was painted by Florijan Umek from Buče, but the artwork hasn’t been preserved well. The chapel was renovated in 1977 and 1978. The statue of Our Lady of Sorrows- Pieta- is a copy/replica.

The chapel has two Tuscan pillars with walled arches and a door in front. In the chapel is a vaulted baldachin on four pillars with crowned capitals. The baldachin and the statue are wooden. They were made in baroque tradition, but in the 19th century. The tin candleholders are classicistic.
