VIDEŠEK’S CHAPEL, DEKMANCA

The chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, has been built by Franc and Terezija Kostanjšek in 1930 after making a vow. There used be a tall palm tree standing next to the house, underneath which the sheep would rest and lay. One day in 1929, as a child herded the cattle from the pasture and all the family was standing outside in front of the house, a lightning stroke and hit the palm-tree, knocking it down. Because everyone survived and were intact, they built a chapel on the same spot to show Mary their gratitude.
