NEW CHAPEL OF SAINT ROCO IN KUMROVEC
Location: Kumrovec
Category: Sacral objects
The new chapel has little historical value since it was built in the new style with very little antiques. Above the main altar is a beautiful statue of St. Roco from the 18th century. St. Roco is shown in painful wounds because on his return from Rome to his hometown in Piacenza he got sick of plague. Statue also shows the dog with a piece of bread. Legend says that his dog was with him because of the mercy that he provided to patients on a pilgrimage to Rome. According to the legend every day the dog brought him a piece of bread. Alongside St. Roch above the main altar there is a crucifix made by local artist Isidor Ziga-Popijač and a chapel has the Holy Sepulcher made from the same artist. What gives particular value to Kumrovec chapel are old reconstructed organ from the old demolished chapel, which 2007. were renewed by a dominico Gabriel Posavec.
