CHAPEL OF ST. JOHN IN IVANIĆ MILJANSKI

The Gothic church was built in the second half of the 15th century, a bell tower was erected in 1694. It is situated on top of a hill in Ivanic Miljanski in an isolated place in the middle of vineyards. “Frescoes in the chapel of St. John in Ivanic Miljanski are best to date discovered wall paintings from the 15th century in the Krapina-Zagorje County”; a statement of the Croatian Conservation Institute who performed the restoration of the frescoes. On the ceiling of the sanctuary is shown Christ on the throne, the symbols of the Evangelists and angels with symbols of the Passion, and the walls are painted with symbols of martyrdom apostles. Under the windows on the northeast wall are busts of St. Ursula and St. Catherine. The main altar is from 1715, and in the central niche is the figure of St. Ivana evangelists. Beside him is Mary with baby Jesus and two angels and statues of St. Joseph and Charles Borromeo.
