CASTLE MILJANA

The construction of the castle began in the late 16th century. Owned by the family Rattkay. It was built of crushed stone and brick, and is designed as a four-winged building with the court. It originated in the Baroque style, and over the years has experienced several phases of construction, and changes. After 1793, with the death of the last member of the family Rattkay castle Miljana often changed owners, and is currently owned by the family Kamenski. On the first floor of the castle Miljana there is eight lounges of which seven painted some in the dining (murals on the plaster layer) and some in secco (mural on dry plaster) technique. Paintings, as well as the castle, belong to the baroque era, the middle of the 18th century. The author of the frescoes is considered to be Anton Lerhinger, Slovenian Baroque painter, who painted many religious buildings in Slovenia and Croatian Zagorje.
